How do I sell Bitcoin from BTC Vault?
You can sell Bitcoin from your BTC Vault wallet and receive LKR directly in the verified bank account linked to your Bitnomi account.
BTC Vault is best suited for larger or less frequent Bitcoin sales. Because it uses the Bitcoin on-chain network, the network fee may be higher and confirmation may take longer than when selling from BTC Pay.
Is Bitnomi a peer-to-peer marketplace?
No. Bitnomi is not a peer-to-peer marketplace.
You sell your Bitcoin directly to Bitnomi. Once your sell order is verified and processed, Bitnomi sends the LKR amount to your approved bank account.
You do not need to find, contact, or trade with another user.
How do I start a BTC Vault sell order?
You can start the sell flow in either of these ways:
Open BTC Vault and tap Sell
Tap Sell from the home page, then select BTC Vault
If this is your first sell order, Bitnomi will show a short walkthrough. You can view it again later by tapping the help icon in the top-right corner.
How do I enter the amount?
Enter the amount of Bitcoin you want to sell.
Tap Use Max to sell the maximum available amount, if needed.
Review the LKR quotation and applicable fees.
Tap Continue.
The amount you sell, including the on-chain network fee, must be fully covered by your available BTC Vault balance.
If your balance is not enough, the app will show Available balance is insufficient, and you will not be able to continue until you reduce the amount.
What is included in the quotation?
The quotation shows:
The amount of Bitcoin you are selling
The current exchange rate
The Bitnomi fee
The on-chain network fee
The LKR amount you will receive
The exchange rate is valid for 30 seconds, and the remaining time will be shown on the screen.
Why can the fee be higher?
Selling from BTC Vault requires an on-chain Bitcoin transaction.
The network fee may change depending on:
Current Bitcoin network activity
The fee rate used for the transaction
The size of the transaction
Always review the total fee and the final LKR amount before continuing.
What happens if the quotation expires?
The timer continues while you review the order and confirm the transaction.
If the quotation expires:
The main action button will be disabled
A Refresh button will appear
The app will fetch the latest exchange rate
The amount, exchange rate, and fees will be recalculated
A new 30-second timer will begin
Review the updated quotation before continuing.
If the refreshed total can no longer be covered by your balance, reduce the amount before submitting the order.
Which bank account will receive the LKR?
The LKR payment will only be sent to the verified bank account linked to your Bitnomi account.
Review the bank details shown on the payment preview before confirming your order. Contact Bitnomi Support if the displayed details are incorrect.
How do I submit the sell order?
Review the LKR amount you will receive, transaction details, fees, and bank account.
Tap Sell.
Authenticate using:
Your Bitnomi PIN, or
Fingerprint or Face ID, if enabled
After successful authentication, your order status will change to In progress.
The quotation timer continues during authentication. If it expires before authentication is completed, return to the previous step and refresh the quotation.
Why can BTC Vault orders take longer?
BTC Vault uses the Bitcoin on-chain network. The transaction must receive the required network confirmation before the sell order can be completed.
Confirmation time may vary depending on:
Bitcoin network activity
The selected network fee
How quickly the transaction is included in a block
Whether additional verification is required
Bank processing time
Most Bitnomi sell orders are usually completed within 24 hours, but BTC Vault orders may take longer when the Bitcoin network is busy.
A transaction waiting for confirmation does not necessarily mean the order has failed.
What happens after I submit the order?
The Bitnomi team will reviw and complete the order. Most sell orders are usually completed within 24 hours, although the exact time may depend on verification and bank processing.
How do I track my sell order?
Open your transaction history.
Find the BTC Vault sell order.
Tap the transaction to open its details.
Select the Updates tab.
The Updates tab shows the latest progress of your sell order, including verification, processing, network confirmation, and LKR payout.
For a detailed explanation of each status, see How do I track my sell order?
What if the Bitnomi team is unavailable?
You can still enter an amount and view the current LKR quotation and fees.
However, you will not be able to submit the sell order while the Bitnomi team is unavailable. The app will show an alert banner and a Contact Support option.
