What happens when my account Is closed?
From time to time, Bitnomi may need to end its relationship with a customer, or a customer may choose to close their own account. Here's what that process looks like and what you need to know.
Why an account might be closed?
An account relationship may be ended for a number of reasons, including:
At the customer's request - You're always free to close your account with us
Inability to complete or maintain verification - Required identity or documentation checks can't be completed
Prolonged inactivity - An account that has been dormant for an extended period
Non-compliance with our Terms of Service - A breach of the terms you agreed to when you registered
Regulatory or legal requirements - Obligations under Sri Lankan law that require us to end the relationship
Withdrawing your assets
If your account is being closed, you're required to withdraw any remaining virtual assets within a reasonable period. We'll notify you of the closure and provide guidance on how and by when to complete your withdrawal.
We'd encourage you to act promptly once notified, so your funds reach you without unnecessary delay.
What happens to unclaimed assets?
If assets are not withdrawn within the notified period, they may be handled in accordance with applicable Sri Lankan laws governing unclaimed property and funds. We'll always make reasonable efforts to notify you and give you the opportunity to withdraw before any such process applies.
What you can do next?
If you've been notified that your account is being closed:
Review the notification for any specific instructions or deadlines
Withdraw your remaining balance to a wallet or account of your choice
Reach out to our support team if you have questions or need assistance with the withdrawal process
Why we do this?
A clear, fair offboarding process protects both our customers and the integrity of the platform. It ensures every customer has a genuine opportunity to recover their assets, and it keeps Bitnomi aligned with its obligations under Sri Lanka's financial services regulations.
